Just Breathe and a bit of Pink Floyd for good measure

Today I was trying to catch up with you , and reading all that you have posted on the last few days .

A little OCD that I am , had me checking first what landed on my box today and that is how I came to read  “Just Breathe” by Kat Myrman on her blog LikeMercuryColliding .

I am always amazed by Kat’s imagination , her way with words and how she maneuvers around these limericks and poetry challenges and word prompts .

Today she works around a beautiful Cinquain Challenge , and I would love you to go there and read it , before you come back here . Please ?

Did you like it ? Beautiful , right ?

So , take a moment to savour her beautiful words , have a cup of tea (or coffee or hot chocolate or what you like the best ) because now that you have been enchanted by a beautiful poem by a real writer , I am taking you back down to the world of Turtle , where craziness abounds .

And you know what is coming , don’t you ? Yes , you are absolutely right .

This Crazy Turtle was reading “Just Breathe” and immediately Pink Floyd started singing in her head .

Breathe
(Waters, Gilmour, Wright) 2:44

Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don’t be afraid to care.
Leave but don’t leave me.
Look around and choose your own ground.

Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you’ll give and tears you’ll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

Run, rabbit run.
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don’t sit down it’s time to dig another one.

For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave.

Love the lyrics and love the song .

note : couldn’t find a clip that I liked with just the “Breathe” part so I am sharing a mix with SpeakToMe/Breathe/OnTheRun/Time ; Breathe ends at 4:02 and you might want to skip OnTheRun (04:05/07:30) but Time is a great song .

Time

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I’d something more to say.

Home
Home again
I like to be here
When I can

When I come home
Cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones
Beside the fire

Far away
Across the field
Tolling on the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell

Songwriters
ANDREW WRIGHT, SIMON SMITH

Had to include the lyrics to Time too , as this is one of those songs that have a “lifelong reserved seat” on my brain .

Thank you Kat for the inspiration and for making me remember Breathe by Pink Floyd , and please forgive me for putting together in the same post your beautiful words and real English good writing , with my “stammerings” and crazy music .

Turtle Hugs 🙂

      1. Ha! You’re welcome. My favourite two songs by them are from the album Vertigo: “Inside My Mind” (which is actually one of my favourite songs of all time EVER), and “Dusk You and Me.” Then there’s the album Another Late Night which has some great remixes, including “Breathe” that we were talking about. My fave on there is “Raise the Dead.” Well, this is probably more info than you needed, haha! Have fun exploring. 🙂
